Houston Mayor Annise Parker to Speak at September Chamber Luncheon      Houston Mayor Annise Parker will be speaking at the Chamber’s September Third Tuesday Luncheon. The luncheon is being presented by Houston City Council Member Mike Sullivan and will be held at 11:30 am, on Tuesday, September 21 at Kingwood Country Club. May 11, 2010 12:00 PM Lake Houston Area Chamber’s Education Committee Awards $5,000 in Student Scholarships and Teacher Grants      The Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee will award several scholarships totaling $3,000 to area high school seniors and $2,000 to the Humble ISD Education Foundation for teacher grants at their annual Scholarship Reception at 4 pm, May 13 at the Chamber Office. The Chamber’s Education Committee raised money for scholarships and teacher grants at their PanKakes for Kids breakfast this past February.      The committee received more than 45 scholarship applications from Humble ISD and Spring ISD high school seniors. Recipients are awarded based primarily on need along with consideration for their academic performance, community involvement and leadership.      The Education Committee will also give the Humble ISD Education Foundation with a check for $2,000.
